About the Cupertino Dojo
The Cupertino dojo is a member dojo of Shotokan Karate of America, a not-for-profit organization teaching karate in the U.S. since 1955. The Cupertino dojo held its first practice at the Northwest YMCA in early 2010 and has been going strong since.
We teach Shotokan Karate as a traditional martial art. Our practice emphasizes the development of mental strength and natural, realistic techniques.
Our Practice
Karate can be practiced by everyone at any age (7 and up). As a beginner you’ll learn basic stances, techniques, and forms. Within a short time you’ll join the group for full practice. Beginners are always welcome! To start practicing with us, contact Curt Wvong or drop by the Northwest YMCA.
We are not a commercial sport karate school. We do not require a contract and will not sell you a package or a program. We will teach you karate in a traditional manner. Students at all levels practice together, helping each other improve and become more confident.
Beginning Practice
You can start practicing karate at any age. We offer classes for children (ages 7-12) and adults. No special equipment is required.
